Rady Children’s is the San Diego region’s only designated pediatric trauma center and the only area hospital dedicated solely to pediatric care. Since Children’s first opened its doors in 1954, its mission has been "to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children."

From mild illness and injury to the most severe medical emergency, Rady Children’s specially qualified clinical staff and affiliated physicians provide a full continuum of care, with a staff of over 625 physicians and 800 nurses. The hospital has 248 licensed hospital beds, 59 skilled nursing beds, several hospital-based outpatient specialty clinics, and neighborhood medical centers throughout the county that offer a variety of outpatient services. In addition, Rady Children’s is one of the leading children’s research centers in the country.
Rady Children’s is a recipient of the Peter Barron Stark & Associates Award for Workplace Excellence, and the first pediatric hospital in the country to win the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations’ prestigious Ernest A. Codman Award for Quality.
